Hello Jessica
I am excited to see a true "nonprofit fundraiser, community organizer, technology groupie" on Twitter. Listen I am sure since you are on Twitter you have seen the buzz around the US Twestival 2009. I would like to invite you and all who have joined your group in helping us bring this City together. http://neworleans.twestival.com/

Maybe you can add a link to your site or just word of mouth. You know grass roots, and I am basically asking for your help. :) No need to mince words. Please let me know as soon as you can. You apparently have more of a local following than I do. After all I am not local to New Orleans but have lived here on and off for the past 30 years. I look forward to meeting you and hopefully helping in putting New Orleans back on the map... This time for a selfless cause.

Hi Jessica

My advise is: Don't give up on the Ning. In my experience, it takes quite a lot of time and effort to get the first few people signed up, but you only need a few proactive types on board to invite others and get the word out for it to start taking off.

Because I'm a keen user of social media, I sometimes forget that most people are not and that it's still a bit of an alien concept to them. It's that catch 22 situation - because they don't use it, they don't know how beneficial it is, so they don't use it.

Keep at it. There'll be a tipping point at some stage and it will all be worthwhile.

Without people like you in this industry, word will never get out about the innovation & great technology found in our state. You've already connected with some influential individuals and I'm sure your efforts will begin to pay off. Louisiana 2.0 (beta) is a great idea, let's all do our part to make it grow. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the mention of the Book Marketing Network on Ning. I started that network a year and a half ago, and it has now grown to 2,300 people. I started by letting the people who get my weekly ezine know about the network. Soon 300 had joined. Since that time, people keep inviting their friends -- and that's how we've grown.

I hope you are successful with your Louisiana 2.0 group. Sounds like a great thing to do.
